Measuring Your Pupillary Distance (PD)
Your PD is a vital part of your prescription which matches the lenses to the specifics of your eyes. It works by centering the lens focal point on your focal point... and it is very simple for you to measure yourself!!
  • Basically, you measure the distance between your pupils.
  • You may need a friend to help you with this part.
  • Take a ruler and place it across the bridge of your nose.
  • Ensure you are looking straight ahead (or straight through the person measuring for you!).
  • Line up the “0” of the ruler with the outside of your left pupil
  • Measure to the inside of your right pupil.
  • Check the diagram below for reference.
  • The average PD is about 63mm. Your PD may range within 6 or 7mm of this average.
  • If you do not supply your PD, your spectacles will be set to the default average of 63mm
